Dr Marlous Grijsen is a dermatologist and senior clinical scientist at the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit Indonesia, focusing her research on neglected tropical skin diseases (skin-NTDs), including the stigma and discrimination associated with it. She is the lead investigator of an ongoing randomized clinical trial evaluating metformin as adjunctive therapy in multibacillary leprosy to mitigate leprosy reactions. She has established teledermatology services to improve access to care in underserved areas in eastern Indonesia and is conducting a surveillance study to assess the burden of common and neglected skin diseases in Sumba Island.
