Dr. Shari R. Lipner is a Professor of Clinical Dermatology, Attending Physician, and Director of the Nail Division at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She leads one of the most prominent academic nail programs in the world, setting national standards for the diagnosis and management of nail disorders. Dr. Lipner graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude from Dartmouth College with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. She earned both her M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha. She completed her dermatology residency at Weill Cornell, where she now mentors trainees and directs clinical and research initiatives in nail disease. Dr. Lipner is internationally recognized as one of the world’s foremost experts in nail disorders. Dr. Lipner is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Women’s Dermatologic Society, Council for Nail Disorders, and American Dermatologic Association. She has chaired multiple national committees and previously served as President of the Dermatologic Society of Greater New York. She is the current President of the New York State Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. She is also the Founding Editor-in-Chief of JAAD Reviews. Dr. Lipner has authored over 700 peer-reviewed publications, multiple books, and numerous book chapters. She lectures nationally and internationally, shaping the field’s understanding of nail pathology, pharmacology, and procedural dermatology. Her expertise is widely sought by major media outlets, including CNN, NPR, The Washington Post, Allure, Self**, and The New York Times**.
